Why work with stones?

  • Ever noticed the feeling you get on entering a beach, picking up a stone and pocketing it? This is what it’s all about.
Writing words on a stone and spending time using stones as canvases is powerful.
You can do this on your own, in fact I’d encourage you to do just that, as a beginning, but if you want to expand on this experience then….

Why work with me ?

  • CREATIVE ME
I have been working with stone canvases and developing the techniques I will teach you for 10 years now, and I’m passionate about sharing it all!

  • CREATIVE YOU
I have always firmly believed that whatever we give time and attention to will grow; that although we all have inborn strengths, if we nourish the less developed parts they are just as likely to flourish as those parts we have tended all our lives. They just need time and permission.

  • HESITANCE
I am hesitant to even admit to my lack of self confidence, but there it is! (See Brene Brown on the subject of shame). So I know and understand some ways to over come this.

  • A SAFE SPACE
I pride myself on creating a safe, non-judgmental environment, and I encourage mutual support among my students, which is not difficult. People are kinder than we think. We are our own worst critics.

  • CURIOSITY AND ADVENTURE
Ideally the workshops will consist of learning techniques….. allowing ourselves to be curious and adventurous; looking and accessing and making decisions about what to do next; when necessary coming back to a stone after making another one.

  • THE WORDS
i have a few books of my favourite things to write on stones collected over the years. The words you choose to write on your stone, for yourself or as a gift can be as deep and meaningful or light hearted as you wish. Visually they act in much the same way as a frame does on a flat canvas…they somehow pull it altogether. They unify and complete the piece. Enormously satisfying.
    So unleash your creativity!
    Discover...explore!
    What's stopping you?
An empowering question to ask yourself about anything you desire and withhold from yourself.
